I'M probably about to shame myself in the eyes of some readers.
Last night saw the premiere episode of Swift and Shift Couriers on SBS (Monday, 8.30pm), and I like it.
No-one is sacred. You've got Kiwis, Lebanese, Anglos, Chinese, gays, the mentally slow, even "short-statured" people - all are targeted, and to good effect.
Swift and Shift Couriers is the latest effort from Paul Fenech of Pizza fame, so you can get an idea of what type of humour I'm writing about.
But instead of delivering pizza and garlic bread, the cast delivers packages, as least that's what they're supposed to do.
There's the Asian courier, who can't speak English well, given the responsibility to deliver the NRL Premiership trophy while Mario (played by Fenech) used ocky-straps to put a Reg Mombassa painting on top of his van (the painting ended up in Sydney Harbour). You get the idea.
Ian Turpie even appears in the show as the depot manager under pressure after the business was taken over by a big company. Sydney radio personality Amanda Keller plays the regional manager drops by the depot, who makes sure the place is run properly, which I'm sure you can tell is not.
I found Swift and Shift Couriers pretty funny, perhaps because of its un-PC humour. But it's also because of the unpredictability of it.
If you liked Pizza, you'll enjoy this one.
But hey, I'm a male in my mid-20s, I guess I'm probably in the target audience.
