DETECTIVES are on the hunt for burglars who targeted motels around Sale last week.
The first offence took place between Wednesday and Friday last week, where burglars forced their way into eight unoccupied rooms and stole the televisions from at least six of the motel rooms.
Police believe the offenders would have required a car to remove the stolen goods, and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or a vehicle at the time.
The second offence occurred at a different motel, where the offenders broke into the office of the motel between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Cash and a computer were stolen.
Police declined to identify which motels were targeted.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to phone Sale Crime Investigation Unit on 5143 5000.
MAFFRA police are urging landholders to be vigilant after several thefts from dairies in the area recently.
Sergeant Eamon Leahy said items such as power tools and generators had been stolen and owners should be careful to lock up and secure valuable items.
“Do not leave keys in vehicles, including motorcycles and quads,” he warned.
“Police are aware of reports of young males driving around farms in a suspicious manner, who when confronted, are asking for relief milking work.”
Sgt Leahy urged locals to be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour, and to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they witnessed anything.
