SALE police have warned race-goers that they will be out in force this weekend at the Sale Cup.

According to Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Atkin, police members will be present at both the turf club as well as in Sale's CBD afterwards.

"There will be a visible presence in relation to the venue as well as in Sale afterwards,'' he said.

"We want everyone to have fun, but also to be mindful of their alcohol.

"There will be lots of security on the day, so if people become unruly they will be ejected and possibly be held in our cells at the station.''

Acting Sen-Sgt Atkin said police would also target underage drinkers, and encouraged all revellers to ensure they wore the over 18 wristbands provided on the day.

"As part of the second phase of the operations, we will also be present in Sale,'' he added.

"Licensed venues have agreed, as part of the Liquor Accord to lock-outs from 8pm and will close at 10pm.''
