SOUTHERN Rural Water has increased allocations for all for customers in the Macalister Irrigation District and for diverters on the Thomson and Macalister rivers and Rainbow Creek by 10 per cent.
SRW acting water supply general manager Lincoln Eddy said this would bring the 2009-10 seasonal allocation up to 55 per cent of high-reliability water shares.
"This increase in allocation is a result of the recent rain events which resulted in increase inflows into Lake Glenmaggie over the past two weeks,'' he said.
"Southern Rural Water and the Macalister Customer Consultative Committee still remain hopeful that rainfall over the next two months will see the reservoir fill and spill.
"With this increase in allocation I strongly urge all irrigators who do not plan to use this additional allocation of high reliability shares, to consider trading it to others in the community.
"Building a sustainable economy through efficient use and delivery of our water resources is a key objective for SRW and the MCCC.''
Mr Eddy said SRW would review available water and make an allocation announcement every two weeks as the season progressed.
"The next allocation announcement will be on September 8.''
