A COLOURFUL piece of moo-ving art by Boisdale Consolidated School students has been named cream of the crop in an art competition.
The school won the regional prize in the Dairy Australia Picasso Cow competition.
The Picasso Cow program aims to educate primary school students about dairy nutrition and the dairy industry by giving schools a life-sized fibreglass cow to paint according to a specific dairy theme.
Boisdale students painted their cow, known as Buttercup, based around the theme of healthy bones and teeth.
Students from all grades had the chance to contribute by designing a part of Buttercup's colourful coat, as well as completing other dairy-themed activities.
The school also took a selection of funny photos where Buttercup was photographed in strange and interesting places around the school.
Their project work was then submitted to Dairy Australia as a computer presentation showing what each class learnt from having a full size cow in their classroom to inspire them.
A group of students went to Bairnsdale for the final presentation day where nine cows from around the region were on display.
