A BAIRNSDALE man will be charged on summons after being booked for the fifth time under the state's hoon legislation on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old man was caught driving at 173kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Princes Highway between Bairnsdale and Stratford at around 2.50pm. The man's car was seized under the hoon legislation and impounded for 48 hours. Police said the man was due to graduate from his P-plates this week.

A MAFFRA woman L-plate driver caught drink driving four times over her legal limit will be charged on summons to appear before Sale Magistrates Court.

Maffra police caught the 27-year-old woman while she was driving in Morrison St, Maffra last Friday at 5.25pm. A breath test revealed the woman had a blood alcohol reading of 0.201.

As an L-plate licence holder her blood alcohol content has to be 0.00 when driving. The woman will appear before court at a date to be determined. Maffra police are concerned about the incident, as the woman was a learner driver.
