Charity burgled

01 Jun, 2009 04:07 PM
MONEY was stolen during a burglary at a charity store in Raymond St on the weekend.

Sale police said the Red Cross opportunity shop was burgled sometime between Saturday night and Sunday night. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone Sale police on 5143 5000.

A TODDLER who spent the night missing in pine forest at Gormandale in freezing temperatures has been found safe and well.

The three-year-old boy went missing at about 5pm Saturday when he wandered off from his mother while visiting a poultry farm in Onleys Road.

Police were called in at 5.30pm to help search for the boy, with CFA, SES, Police Air Wing, Water Police and bushwalkers all called in to assist.

Yarram police said a CFA volunteer tracked the toddler's footprints, which helped to target their search. The boy was found in pine forest off Onleys Road, near Dove Lane, at 8am.

He was assessed by a nurse at the scene before being taken to the Traralgon Hospital for a further assessment. Police estimate the toddler covered five kilometres of terrain during his escapade.

RAFFIC police will be out in force this weekend for Operation Aegis V.

The traffic blitz will cover the Queen's Birthday long weekend from Friday until Monday.

The operation aims to reduce the incidence of death and serious injury on the roads.

Police will be targeting, fatigue, speed, alcohol and drug related offences.

Recent statistics have shown a decline in the rate of death and serious injury collisions during the period of the state wide traffic operations.

The Wellington Traffic Management Unit will continue the operation after June 8 and will run it until an undisclosed time and date to try and reduce the road toll in the Wellington police service area.
