THE spate of car accidents in Wellington shire continues, with two more serious car crashes on the region's roads in the space of 24 hours.

The latest car crash was on Wednesday night when a man, believed to be in his 20s, crashed his car into a power pole on Macarthur St between Darling St and Guthridge Parade.

Sale police said the accident occurred at 5.30pm.

The man was taken to Sale hospital.

Earlier in the day a man was airlifted to Latrobe Regional Hospital after he was involved in an accident on Springs Rd in Seaton.

Heyfield police said three men were travelling in a car heading towards Heyfield at 2.30am when they missed a bend and crashed into a tree 2km north of Binns Rd.

As well as airlifting one man, the other two men were taken by ambulance to Latrobe Regional Hospital. All three were believed to have serious injuries.

The three men were all from Melbourne and it is believed they have been working in the area for the Department of Sustainability and Environment doing firebreak clearing.
