THE Federal Transport Minister has been accused of not working with the Gippsland community to improve the safety of the Princes Highway east of Sale.
Gippsland MHR Darren Chester said that in the wake of several serious accidents he had been lobbying for Federal funding to upgrade the highway between Sale and the New South Wales border.
"A disproportionate number of people continue to be killed or injured on roads in our region and independent research has consistently found that the highway is not up to standard,'' Mr Chester said.
