MAFFRA'S outdoor pool is currently undergoing a much-needed upgrade, with works anticipated to be completed in time for summer.
The works are expected to be completed prior to the pool opening on November 7.
As the works commenced on the pool, concerns were put to the Gippsland Times the upgrades would encroach on the neighbouring courts of the Maffra Lawn Tennis Club.
However, club president Chris Horn put fears to rest, stating the upgrades would benefit the club.
"They (the upgrades) are definitely not causing any concern,'' Mr Horn said.
"The benefit to the club will be that the upgrades will provide new boundary fencing for us which will be new and all level.''
According to Wellington Shire Council chief executive Tim Johnson, the works will deliver a facelift to the 50 year old pool and modernise the pool's facilities
"The changes are extensive and will significantly improve the pool facility,'' he said.
Planned works include wetdecking, a new concourse and fencing.
"There is also a new shade structure and some landscaping to be completed,'' Mr Johnson said.
The total cost of the works will be around $300,000.
The upgrades are part of an ongoing effort to improve the pool. In recent years, council has completed works at the Maffra Pool including new toilets and change rooms, a new plant room, improved first aid facilities and new entry and kiosk area at a cost of about $500,000.
"The latest works at Maffra complete the redevelopment of the Maffra pool that is outlined in our aquatic strategy,'' Mr Johnson said.
