Maffra Show promises a great day

22 Oct, 2009 11:29 AM
THIS year's Maffra Show is promising to be even bigger and better.

All that you've come to expect from one of Gippslands' best agricultural shows will be on show this year, plus many improvements and new additions.

Revellers will be enthralled by the stunts and tricks performed by the Cirque Mystique who will be performing for the first time at the Maffra Show. The troupe will entertain with classic carnival sideshow tricks, including fire dancing and juggling.

The Beaut Ute competition is back again, and promises to be better than ever with more entries from across the state, including many vying for the coveted title of Most Feral Ute.

Throughout the evening revellers will also be entertained by country music with a live broadcast of Truck'n with Tim, as well as a live performance from Peter Denahy.

One of the highlights will be the gastronomic events. Butchers from around the area will be showcasing their finest selection of smallgoods, and many local wineries, cheese makers and numerous other goods will be on display. To cap it off, Masterchef celebrity Sam Ciaravolo will be part of the Iron Chef V Masterchef cook off.

And of course, this is all alongside the classic show staples of rides, sideshow games and attractions and pavilion entries.

The Maffra Show will open today from 8.30am with showjumping and horse events all day, and will be open from 8am on Saturday until 9.35, when the spectacular fireworks will cap off the day. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and children under five enter free.
