05 Nov, 2009 11:47 AM
A TEENAGER is recovering in a Melbourne hospital following a car accident on an off-road track near Loch Sport on Monday.

The 15-year-old boy from the Mornington Peninsula area was one of seven passengers in a car which rolled over while travelling on a sandy track near the Track 6 pipeline at Seacombe at 11.45pm.

The boy became pinned under the car after it crashed but the other occupants lifted the car off to free him.

He was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with serious injuries.

The 43-year-old driver was taken to Sale police station for questioning but no charges are currently pending.

A MAN who tried to rob the Red Rooster store in Sale in August has been charged.

The 27-year-old Faulkner man faces four armed robbery charges, one attempted armed robbery, one robbery and one attempted robbery as well as seven assault charges.

The charges are the result of joint investigations with Sale detectives and the Region 3 Robbery Unit.

The robbery and attempted robbery charges are in relation to an incident at the Red Rooster store in Sale on August 29.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 19.

TWO drivers were lucky to escape without injury on Wednesday afternoon when their cars collided in Longford.

The collision occurred about 5.15pm, when one of the cars crossed the double white lines on the South Gippsland Highway.

The other driver swerved, yet both cars suffered extensive damage.

Police have stated that neither driver fatigue or alcohol was a factor in the collision.
