Weir road a danger

23 Oct, 2009 04:00 AM
THE popular Cowwarr Weir road could pose a severe threat to drivers this summer, according to a Toongabbie resident.

Fred Evans, who lives on Toongabbie-Cowwarr Rd, said the narrow, 100 kilometre an hour road presented a real danger to motorists, as the gravel shoulders of the road were littered with deep potholes.

"This road becomes extremely busy in the summer due to the Cowwarr Weir,'' Mr Evans said.

Mr Evans also said the trees lining the road obscured the view for entering vehicles, as well as leaving motorists "no room for error".

"If somebody comes off it, they'll go straight into a tree,'' he said.

Mr Evans explained the problem with the road was that it lies on the boundary of Wellington Shire and Latrobe City.
