WHAT a contrast in playing conditions.
Day one of Sale-Maffra cricket's round 12 was played in extreme heat, but on day two, showery overcast conditions made life difficult for batsmen, who had to contend with ball movement through the air and deviation off wickets that had a bit of juice in them, making chasing even small targets hard work.
Maffra resumed day two on 2-32 chasing Stratford's 170. When Adrian Burgiel was run out, Stratford got back on top, dismissing Maffra for 139.
Bundalaguah, chasing Sale's 152, scored 190 but was 7-128 before steadying.
Collegians resumed at 2-65 and at 4-80 still had a bit of work to do before century maker Stuart Anderson and Mark Nicholls put on 111 for the fifth wicket to set up the win.
Wurruk's 261 was out of reach of Rosedale-Kilmany, who was all out for 161.
RESUMING at 2-32 against Stratford, Maffra lost two wickets with the score just over 50 before Tim Bourke, 30, and Adrian Burgiel put on 41 for the fifth wicket.
Both batted well, picking up quick singles before Stratford fought back when Joel Bristow ran out Burgiel for 18.
Dean Rowley scored 21 but Stratford bowlers Simon Waixel, 3-35; Jack Tatterson, 3-30, and Jie Van Berkel, 2-8, kept picking up wickets with Maffra all out for 139.
In its second innings, Stratford finished on 3-53.
PLAY at Sale Oval did not begin until 2.30pm because of the damp bowling run-ups as Bundalaguah resumed at 2-59.
Tom Tudor, 23, and Daniel Bedggood, 26, were out early as Sale kept breaking partnerships.
At 5-81, Bundalaguah still had bit of work to do then Nathan King, 22, and Mark Trethowan, 22, added 43 for the sixth wicket. Nathan Massey, 31, and Mark Grosveld, 12, came together at 7-128 and their partnership of 50 got Bundalaguah over the line.
Sale pace bowler Luke Klasen used the conditions well, taking 4-83 off 24 overs, while John Hepworth, 2-22, and Pete Roberts, 2-39, also bowled well for Sale.
COLLEGIANS resumed at 2-65 but after adding 15 runs was 4-80 against Boisdale-Briagolong.
Stuart Anderson and Mark Nicholls put on 111 in their match-winning partnership for the fifth wicket.
When players left the field with steady rain falling at 3pm, Collegians was nicely placed at 5-205 with Anderson on 87 and Nicholls 20.
After tea play resumed with Anderson, who is batting better than ever, scoring another unbeaten century with solid support from Nicholls, 24 not out, as Collegians finished on 5-228.
Dylan Bolton took 2-61 off 22 overs for Boisdale-Briagolong.
WURRUK dismissed Rosedale-Kilmany for 161. Anthony Dessent, 57 not out; Anthony Scott, 35, and Geoff Kinnish, 18, scored runs for Rosedale-Kilmany.
Mick Murphy was the best of the Wurruk bowlers, taking 3-21 off 8 overs, Aaron Lynch finished with 3-56 off 16.2.
Mick Hackett and Rick Gleeson, 2-40 each, also bowled well.
Batting second, Wurruk scored 3-55 with Craig Young making 28.
