Donald destroys Sale

06 Feb, 2012 01:30 PM
SEVEN wickets from Mark Donald helped Bundalaguah defend 110 against Sale in round 12 of Sale-Maffra cricket.

Resuming in a favourable position of 3-42 in reply, the devastating Donald spell saw Sale lose its final seven wickets for just five runs to be dismissed for 55.

Captain Ian Wrigglesworth top-scored with 23, while Nick Grainger was the only other Sale batsman to reach double figures.

The home side wasn’t helped with some bad luck, not getting the rub of the green with some tight leg before decisions, and then had to spend the rest of the day in the field as Bundalaguah had another bat.

Losing two wickets early, Bundalaguah bounced back to finish on 9-262 at the compulsory close.

Tom Tudor scored a half century at number three, while Daniel and Sam Bedggood put on 93 runs for the sixth wicket.

Mitch Evans and Codey Kennedy were the multiple wicket-takers for Sale with two each.

COLLEGIANS received a scare in its two wicket win over Boisdale-Briagolong.

Resuming at 3-68, Jayden Allison and Ben Hurley were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Collegians passed the Saints’ total of 99 with just two wickets in hand.

Jason Phillips did the damage for the Saints with three wickets, while captain Kris Morrison picked up the final two wickets of the innings with Collegians just one run ahead.

Boisdale-Briagolong fell to 5-39 in its second innings before Phillips and Dylan Bolton, who scored a match high 61, led the fightback with a 60-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

All five Collegians bowlers picked up a wicket with Brenton Rees, 3-24, and captain Stuart Anderson, 2-44, leading the way.

The home side declared at 8-166 to have 14 overs at Collegians before the compulsory close, the visitors finishing on 0-34 with Matt Foster, 22, and Cooper Hall the unbeaten batsmen.

A 116-RUN second wicket partnership between Maffra captain Brett Lanigan and New Zealand import Josh Rurawhe proved the key in the Eagles’ successful run chase against Sale City.

Layton Armstrong picked up the wicket of Daniel Cameron to end a 55-run opening partnership before Lanigan and Rurawhe put Maffra in the box seat to claim first innings points.

Mitch Floyd bowled Rurawhe for 63 to end the stand and led a mini Lizards fightback with brother Jarryd as the Eagles lost 6-31. The brothers finished with seven wickets between them.

Heath Shingles and Brett Millington saw Maffra home in a partnership of 29 as the Eagles finished on 8-231 at the compulsory close.

STRATFORD captain Jack Tatterson helped his side to a comfortable win over Rosedale-Kilmany with a five-wicket haul.

Solid top order contributions from Leigh Freshwater, Tristan Vale and Daryl Sebire had Rosedale-Kilmany on track for a good score before the innings fell away, as the Warriors lost their final seven wickets for 46 runs.

An unbeaten 55 from Brad Scott proved to be not enough as the Warriors were bowled out for 161 in reply to Stratford’s 248.

Tatterson led the way with 5-49, Simon Williams was accurate to finish with 2-6 off 10 overs, while Jie van Berkel also finished with two wickets.
