 Young Sharks seek GCL glory

Young Sharks seek GCL glory

03 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
SALE-Maffra will meet Bairnsdale in the Gippsland Cricket League under 16 final this Sunday at Hallora, near Warragul.

Both undefeated during a rain-affected season, the two teams were scheduled to meet in round three at Maffra, but that fixture was abandoned because of inclement weather.

Sale-Maffra’s bowling attack, led by Harry Thackray and Thomas Love, will need to contain Will Patterson, who is the leading run-scorer in the under 16s. Taylor Tatterson and Bohdi Walker have been among the keys for Sale-Maffra with the bat, but Bairnsdale’s Richard Ingrouille has taken the most wickets this season.

The Sale-Maffra team will be meeting at Sporting Legends at 7.30am to travel to Hallora. Players are to wear their SMCA shirts.

The match will begin at 10.15am.

THE under 16 team will be the only Sale-Maffra side playing a GCL decider this weekend after its senior and under 18 teams finished third on their respective ladders.

Leongatha and Traralgon will play in the senior and under 18 finals, which will both be in Warragul.
