MAFFRA put on its best effort of the West Gippsland-Latrobe football season in disposing of Leongatha.
The win puts the Eagles a game clear of Moe on top of the West Gippsland-Latrobe ladder.
Brendon Rathnow and Jed Costigan were running the Parrots ragged on the wings, setting up many forward forays, while Ben Coleman and captain Ben Batalha brilliantly led the midfield brigade.
In attack, the Eagles were superb, with Adrian Burgiel kicking seven goals in his comeback match from injury and three each from Nick Horsford, Daniel Stubbe and Rathnow.
The defence, lead by Glen Semmens, was also solid.
The match, between the top two teams on the ladder, promised to be close with goals hard to come by early with none kicked during a 10-minute period.
After the Parrots kicked the first goal, the Eagles responded with six to head into the first change 33 points up as their workrate was rewarded.
A bump by Batalha and a strong tackle by defender Sam Bristow on a Parrots opponent typified the Eagles' toughness.
Maffra continued to apply pressure as the Parrots were restricted to conceding ground with their passes.
Costigan passed to Burgiel, who then handballed to Stubbe in the goal square to kick a major to increase the lead to 39 points.
When Burgiel, with a kick off one step from 40 metres out, bounced the ball through the big sticks, the margin was 51.
Dwayne Holt then kicked two consecutive goals for the Parrots, the second from a great snap before Rathnow goaled to give the Eagles a 44-point lead at half-time.
In a low-scoring third term, goals to Rathnow and Horsford, gave Maffra a 57-point lead.
A goal from Holt helped cut the margin to 52 by three-quarter time as the result was all-but confirmed.
The Eagles made sure of it in the final term, piling on eight goals to two to run out 93-point winners, 21.16 (142) to 7.9 (49).
With five goals, Holt was Leongatha's best and had support from fellow forward Mark Coghlan and winger Brad Rayson.
Maffra's reserves had two late chances to snatch victory, but couldn't as the match ended in a draw.
The Eagles led by 19 points at half-time, but only kicked one goal afterwards as the Parrots fought back.
Maffra won the under 18s match by 33 and the under 16s by 58.
