HEYFIELD Football-Netball Club has been named the most disciplined club in country Victoria.
At the Victorian Country Football League's annual premiers dinner held at Hilton on the Park in Melbourne, Heyfield and Woodside were among the football and netball premiership winning clubs from across the state recognised for their achievements.
The evening also recognised and acknowledged outstanding contributions from country volunteers, administrators, umpires, and in publishing.
For the third year in a row the Kangaroos were also recognised for their on-field discipline. After being runner-up in 2008, the club went one better to be awarded the most disciplined club award.
The club also won the award in 2007.
It is the fifth consecutive year an award has gone to the North Gippsland Football-Netball League or one of its clubs.
League president Jim Murdoch said the award reflected the hard work and commitment the league and its 11 clubs, in particular Heyfield, placed on ensuring the game was played in the best spirit.
"To have been successful in walking away with a major award for the fifth year in a row is a huge honour bestowed on the League when you consider the number of leagues across the state vying for these awards,'' he said.
"The award demonstrates that discipline and success go hand in hand, and is reflective of the hard work of the Heyfield Football-Netball Club both on and off the field.
"To have been awarded the honor two out of the past three seasons and be relegated to runner-up last season shows the club hasn't dropped their guard when it comes to their approach to discipline on the field.''
