NGFNL into the second half

18 Jun, 2009 01:10 PM
GLENGARRY will host the in-form Cowwarr tomorrow as North Gippsland football enters the second half of the fixture.

The injury-ravaged Magpies have been

the hard luck story of 2009.

The side hasn't recorded a victory since round three, and in the past two weeks has watched matches slip from their grasp by a total of 12 points.

After a slow start, Cowwarr has remarkably turned its season around. The Saints secured their third victory on the run with a dominating performance against Sale City, elevating them to eighth place.

GORMANDALE will host Churchill with a large crowd expected for the reunion of the Tigers' 1989 senior premiership team.

A win against Churchill will demonstrate that the Tigers are true finals contenders.

After dropping its past two matches, Churchill will have to dig deep, with the grand final rematch set to be a spirited contest.

SALE City's final ambitions suffered a massive blow when it was convincingly beaten by Cowwarr last Saturday.

The Bulldogs will be looking to repeat their round one victory against Traralgon-Tyers United, with the two sides sitting equal on points on the ladder.

A win is essential in ensuring both sides remain in finals contention.

ENDURING an inconsistent season, Rosedale will meet third-placed Boisdale-Briagolong.

The Bombers are the only side to have accounted for Churchill, Heyfield and Woodside this season.

Tomorrow's clash will challenge the visitors, who narrowly fell to the Blues in round one.

Rosedale will need to pull together one of its best performances of the season to steal the points.

THE eight remaining members of Woodside's 1949 premiership side will watch the Wildcats eagerly from the boundary when they host Stratford.

The current breed of Wildcat will be out to impress the club stalwarts as they work towards creating their own premiership glory.

Stratford will make what is now becoming the toughest trip on the fixture.

Surprising all the week prior to their bye with a two-point win over Churchill, the Swans will again go into the match with the underdog status, but will be sure to pressure the home side.

HEYFIELD has the bye.
