Big crowds at dogs

09 Jun, 2009 10:55 AM
THE long weekend brought a big crowd to Sunday's Sale greyhound meeting, and they saw some great racing.

Heats of the Don Clavarino and Tommy Lanigan memorials were the main feature, while Tanjil South trainer Peter Giles led in a treble on the 12-race card.

The 620m heats of the Don Clavarino were both won by the Giles kennel, Octane Al in 37.8 seconds and Supreme Command in 37.69s.

There were five heats of the Tommy Lanigan which saw some great racing.

Doolaly, for Marion Clay at Lang Lang, won the first heat in 25.03s after giving the leaders a start.

Sootica battled back strongly in heat two to record a good 24.99s for Healeville trainer Brian Smith.

Wicked Weasel was the third winner of the night for Giles in 25.13s, scoring by almost six lengths.

Heat four was taken out by Cool Draught for Korumburra mentor Reg Boyce in 25.07s.

Lancelot Rose was impressive in powering away with the final heat by more than six lengths for Rosedale's Jeff Chignell.

It will make for two great finals at Sale this Sunday.
