The grant was part of a $36,700 in funding from the State Government for Gippsland racing club announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Justice Brian Tee.

Other clubs to receive funding were the Buchan and Gelantipy Racing Club, with $14,000 for a water trailer and portable coolroom, and Tambo Valley Racing Club, $2000 to complete its running rail to maintain safety on racedays.

Representing Racing Minister Rob Hulls at the announcement at Greenwattle last Thursday, Mr Tee said the funds focused on improving racing the in Gippsland.

"Gippsland's racing clubs perform a pivotal role in contributing to community spirit and, as in many regional areas, also help drive the local economy,'' he said.

"Gippsland is a vibrant region and a popular tourist destination that draws a lot of strength from its wide group of communities, which the racing industry whole-heartedly supports.''

Mr Tee said safety for all racing participants and the welfare of the horses was paramount, but providing comfortable amenities for clubs to maintain their outstanding reputation for fun, family-friendly events was also important.
