BRAD Rawiller moved into third place on the Sale jockeys' premiership ladder after riding a winning treble last Thursday.
While Rawiller was busy riding winners, Dwayne Dunn, who is leading the premiership, had a day of near misses with three placings.
Rawiller wasted little time in closing in on the leaders, opening with a win in race one, the 1700m maiden, on Washington, trained by David Hayes.
By race two, the 1200m maiden, he had a double, winning the second on Always Elusive, trained at Caulfield by Weekend Hustler's trainer Ross McDonald.
Rawiller finished the day with a win on Royal Inquest, trained by Tony Noonan, in the 0-68 handicap.
The gap between the leaders in the jockeys' premiership is narrowing with Dunn, on 10 wins, leading from Peter Mertens, nine, and Rawiller, eight, after his winning treble.
Consistent trainers Nikki Burke and Allison Bennett continued their winning run at Greenwattle with wins on Thursday.
Burke and partner Mark Flaherty combined to win race five, the Class 1 handicap, with Red Hustler while Moe trainer Bennett won race seven with impressive first starter Emerald Poacher.
We can expect to hear more from imported galloper Trenchtown from the Freedman stables, who ran a very good race to finish fourth just behind the placegetters in the Class 1 handicap.
Race three went to Shamoline Warrior, ridden by Michael Rodd.
Matt Pumpa won race four on Penny Lover.
Dean Holland took out race six on Blue Collar and local galloper Emjay Hussey, trained by Ian Hutchins, continued its unlucky run of minor placings with a third behind Blue Collar and Owzat.
It was another outstanding day's racing at Greenwattle with the quality fields contesting the eight events.
The next meeting at Greenwattle will be held on Monday, May 18.
