THERE were mixed results for the junior teams involved in West-Gippsland Latrobe netball finals over the weekend.
In wintry conditions at Traralgon on Saturday, Sale defeated Maffra 34-18 in the under 13 qualifying final.
The Magpies got an early break to lead 10-3 at the first change and continued to play well in the second quarter.
Maffra played its best netball in the third term, out-scoring the Magpies 7-6 but Sale steadied in the last quarter to win.
Sale centre Montana Holmes was named best-on-court.
Sale will play Traralgon in the second semi-final with Maffra to take on Leongatha in the first semi.
In the under 15s, Maffra worked hard for its 34-29 win over Leongatha in a high standard final.
Sale came from behind to defeat Warragul in the under 17s.
The Gulls got a flying start to lead 6-9 at the first change before Sale moved into top gear in a brilliant second quarter, out-scoring Warragul 16-4 to lead 22-13 at half-time.
Sale continued its dominance in the second half, going on to win 41-23 to set up a second semi-final against Traralgon.
In the under 17 elimination final on Sunday at Leongatha, Maffra lost to Drouin 38-33.
