FIVE games of touch were played last Wednesday night with CAT's recording a narrow win over Nagle College, five tries to four.
At half-time CAT's was up by a try before each side scored three in the second half.
Corey Buys and Adrian Whittaker each scored two tries with Kerry Shotter one.
Chris Gascoigne top-scored for Nagle with three tries with one from Craig Campbell.
Best players were Whittaker, Campbell and Corey Buys with Trudy Reeves winning the encouragement award.
Mancans defeated Payless Promotions 5-2.
This was a fast game with both teams out to prove who should be competition leader, unfortunately Aaron Spencer suffered a serious injury to his finger in the process.
Scorers for Mancans were Gerard Bonaventura, together with first time scorers Yarran Van Der Want, Darren Just, John Hardy and Matt Cutler.
For Payless, Jamie Fry and Davin Johnson were the only scorers.
Best players were Johnson, Just and Bonaventura with Josh Woods winning the encouragement award.
Gippsland Grammar Barbarians defeated Porky's Pines 7-6 in a hard-fought game.
Henry Ropeti and Rowan Salerman each scored three ties for the Barbarians and Alex Goold scored his first try this season.
For Porky's Pines Steve Deveney top-scored with two tries. Nic Balfour, Richard Bligh, Colin Haywood and Ryan Walsh each scored a try.
Best players were Deveney, Ropeti and Salerman with Emma Kelsey winning the encouragement award.
Gippsland Grammar Swans kept the new team Medics scoreless while recording 11 tries.
Medics will recruit several experienced players then become a competitive side.
Swans scorers were Aiden Commins and Derek Mwagiru with three each. Jake Cockburn scored two with one each to Kahli Higgins, Daniel Kinsella and Stef Pelz, these are the first scores this season for Kahli and Stef.
Phoenix recorded a big win over the young Sale College team, 15-3. Despite the loss, the young College players never gave up and made Phoenix earn every try.
Gavin O'Shanassy had a night out with eight tries to take him to the lead in the try scoring competition. Brad Light and David Ropeti each scored three with Justin Stallion one.
For College, Dean Nichols, Travis Patterson and Bohdi Walker each scored one try. This was Dean's first try in touch.
Wednesday night from 6.30pm, Nagle College will play Sale College (referee Porky's Pines), and Mancans will take on Gippsland Grammar Swans (referee Phoenix).
From 7.20pm, Porky's Pines will meet Phoenix (referee Mancans) and Payless Promotions plays Gippsland Grammar Barbarians (referee CAT's).
The 8.10pm game will be played between CAT's and Medics (referee Payless Promotions).
