MONTHS of fundraising efforts have finally paid off -literally - for the Maffra Junior Fire Brigade, as the team recently raised funds to head off to Western Australia next month.
The team will compete in the Western Australian Fire and Rescue Championships in Fremantle, where it will be one of only two Victorian teams competing.
The trip to Fremantle comes after the team's success earlier this year at the Victorian championships, where for the first time in 25 years, the Maffra Junior Fire Brigade became state champion.
Forty-two people will be heading to WA on November 25 - 15 competitors, two coaches, four judges and an assortment of family members, to lend their support.
In the lead up to the brigade's trip to WA, there have been several local competitions between other Gippsland junior brigades from Sale, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
The next competition will be held in Maffra at the Boisdale St training grounds on Sunday from noon. All are welcome to attend to watch the Maffra junior brigade in action.
