Grammar moving up in class

GIPPSLAND Grammar A moved up to third on the Sale and District touch ladder following a draw game with competition leader Phoenix.

Phoenix only had one try in the first half while Grammar A had two. In the second half Phoenix scored two tries to one.

Phoenix scorers were David Ropeti (two) and Jo Ayers one. For Gippsland Grammar A Jake Cockburn, Kahli Higgins and Derek Mwagiru each scored a try.

Best players were Mwagiru, Henry Ropeti and Cockburn with Stef Pelz winning the encouragement award.

Payless Promotions just got home from CAT's three tries to two.

Payless player Tim Craig scored two tries with one to Nick Harrison. For CAT's, Pete Calvert and Adrian Whittaker each scored one.

Best players were Corey Seibel, and Tameeka Vera and Calvert.

In a very fast game, Stegbar Storm showed its pace to out-score Leesons three tries to nil.

Matthew Walker was the game's top scorer with two tries; Tim Growden scored one.

Best players were Walker, Nick Harrison and Mick Gander with Col Haywood winning the encouragement award.

Undermanned The Fist drew with the young Nagle College team, 4-all.

At each break the scores were tied and it looked as though the younger Nagle College might have the legs to take out the game, however The Fist lifted to draw the game

For The Fist Shawn Anderson and Andrew Lau each scored two tries while for Nagle College, Craig Campbell, Mel Gascoigne, Jacob Harrap and Mark Dowley each scored a try.

Best players were Anderson, Campbell and Gascoigne with Ayesha Floyd-Smith won the encouragement award.

Second-placed Mancans was too strong for Gippsland Grammar B with a 7-1 win.

Scorers for Mancans were Sharon Butt, Peter Murdoch and John Woodhouse with two tries each. Gerard Bonaventura scored one.

The only score for Grammar B was Rowan Salerman, who has scored in each game

Best players were Murdoch, Bonaventura and Andrew Nicholas with Cameron Lucas winning the encouragement award.

Wednesday night from 6.30pm, Nagle College play Mancans and CAT's takes on Gippsland Grammar A.

From 7.20pm The Fist meets Stegbar Storm and Phoenix plays Gippsland Grammar B.

Payless Promotions plays Leesons from 8.10pm.
