Talented Nagle triumphs

MEDICS went down by one try against the talented Nagle team in last Wednesday's touch competition at mosquito-infested Stephenson Park.

Nagle led by a try at half-time and went on to win a high scoring game.

The top scorer for Medics was Brendan Rathnow with three tries; Brendan Everson and Matt Hawkins each scored two. Jason Sampson and Abraham Tangi scored one each.

For Nagle, Chris Gascoigne and Devon Cooper each scored four tries with one each from Mel Gascoigne, Drew Pryor-Holmes and Steve Wright.

Best players were Everson, Tangi and Gascoigne with Claire Bowen winning the encouragement award.

In another even contest, Phoenix just got home against the Gippsland Grammar Swans, 6-5.

Shane O'Shanassy top-scored for Phoenix with three tries. Matthew Lever scored two while Gavin O'Shanassy scored one.

For the Swans, Aiden Commins and Tonilee Pelz scored two tries each with Derek Mwaguiri one.

Best players were O'Shanassy, Commins and Jack Joyce. The encouragement award went to Lexi Joyce.

Payless Promotions showed why it was league leader when it defeated CAT's, 5-1.

The game was even in the first half with Payless Promotions scoring two tries while keeping CAT's scoreless.

The scorers in the first half were Jose Faktauon and Duncan Flemington.

In the second half Payless put pressure on the opposition when the fleet-footed Andrew Considine scored two tries with Faktauon scoring his second.

Kerry Shooter was the only scorer for CAT's.

Best players were Shotter, Phil Randerson and Faktauon with Harriet Chapman winning the encouragement award.

Porky's Pines defeated the improving Sale College team, 8-3.

Chris Kooloos and Ryan Walsh each scored two tries for Porky's Pines while Richard Bligh, Steven Deveney, Emma Kelsey and Brett Towers scored one each.

Best players were Deveney, Tyler Airey and Bree Harris with Kris Pryor winning the encouragement award.

Gippsland Grammar Barbarians defeated Mancans on forfeit.

Tomorrow night from 6.30pm Nagle will play Barbarians (referee CAT's) with Swans playing Payless Promotions (referee Phoenix).

From 7.20pm, CAT's will take on Sale College (referee Porky's Pines) and Mancans plays Phoenix (referee Payless Promotions).

Porky's Pines will play Medics from 810pm (referee Mancans).
