Touch is back after break

SALE Touch resumed last Wednesday night following a five-week break for maintenance at Stephenson Park.

Payless Promotions has maintained its lead in the competition following a 9-5 win over Nagle College.

At half-time it was 4-4 before Payless showed its skills in the second half with five tries while keeping Nagle to just one.

Scorers for Payless were Andrew Considine, Brett Walker, Zalie Munro-Rustean and Jake Turner with two tries each, while Duncan Flemington scored one.

For Nagle, Drew Pryor-Holmes top-scored with two tries. Craig Campbell, Chris Gascoigne and Jacob Harrap each scored a try.

Best players were Considine, Pryor-Holmes and Munro-Rustean. This was Considine's first game of touch in recent times.

Clare Cullen won the encouragement award.

CAT's just got over the line to defeat Phoenix, 8-7.

This was an even contest with CAT's getting the early break in the first half, leading 4-2.

Phoenix performed well as it did not have any interchange players.

CAT's James Melville top-scored with four tries. Allison Diete scored two tries in her first game with CAT's, while there was one each from Brad White and Adrian Whittaker.

For Phoenix, David Ropeti scored three tries, Brad Light two, and Ursula Barnsley and Justin Stallion one each.

Best players were Ropeti, Light and Barnsley with Whittaker winning the encouragement award.

Gippsland Grammar Barbarians defeated the much-improved Medics, 10-5.

Medics is the big improver with star recruits Abraham Tangi and Dave Westerlund contributing to the team's success.

The Barbarians put the Medics under pressure with their attacking game and in defence, they tried stop the talented Medics combination.

Barbarian scorers were Josh Deschepper with tree tries, Henry Ropeti two and one each from Lester Goold, Chris Riley, Alex Rowles, Louis Toney and Chris Porto.

For Medics, Brendan Everson and Brendan Rathnow each scored two tries with Matt Hawkins one.

Best players were Riley, Everson and Ropeti with Rathnow winning the encouragement award.

Mancans and Gippsland Grammar Swan forfeited their matches with Porky's Pines and Sale College respectively.

Tomorrow night from 6.30pm, Nagle College will play Medics (referee Mancans) and Grammar Swans takes on Phoenix (referee Grammar).

From 7.20pm Sale College plays Porky's Pine (referee C.A.T.'s) and Mancans meets Grammar Barbarians (referee Payless Promotions0.

Payless Promotions will play CAT's (referee Porky's pines) from 8.10pm.
