Going from VCE to AIS

05 Nov, 2009 12:17 PM
EIGHTEEN-year-old Gippsland Grammar student Jeremy Meyer has had a busy week.

His VCE exams began with a three-hour English exam last Friday and he had another four this week to wrap up 13 years of schooling.

While most students are concerned about their overall score and what courses they can apply for next year, Meyer does not have that worry as a recent email from Australian Institute of Sport swimming coach Shannon Rollason advised the talented swimmer he had been accepted on an AIS scholarship.

This means Meyer will be going straight from VCE to AIS.

This has been his aim for about three years and has made all of the early morning trips to Traralgon to train under Brian Ford and Ben Guard worthwhile.

Meyer has lowered his personal best times in his two favourite events, the 100 and 200 metres breaststroke, while picking up swag of gold medals at national, state and Victorian Country events.
